'The Joy of Sacred Harp'

Pauline Lubens of the San Jose Mercury News produced a very nice ‘audio slideshow‘ of the All-California Sacred Harp convention, which just concluded a few hours ago. It’s probably as good a 2:00 minute introduction to ‘diaspora’ Sacred Harp singing as you’re likely to find. Or just enjoy it for the pictures and sound.

Is this where you were instead of singing in Kalamazoo. We missed you and Bess.
I wanted to let you know that a whole contingent of Kisers is going to Camp Fasola this summer, including my husband, Dave. We are all very excited to be going and to have Dad going too. (except for Caleb who has said he wouldn’t go to camp and is just now warming up to being with Dad. I guess breaking an arm can mar one’s memory.)
We enjoyed using your MLK Jr Day selections when we sang last night.

Nice presentation, Will. I’m looking forward to another crack at it locally.

Just for fun I started writing a piece, will help me understand the structure a little better to mess with it that way. ML no K had it easier – pull a good bit of translated text, mix with bar song and you have something to have ’em – well, if not repenting in the aisles, at least refraining (cough) from sin.
