Pungent Garry Wills essay

Garry Wills on Christ Among the Partisans – New York Times

THERE is no such thing as a “Christian politics.” If it is a politics, it cannot be Christian. Jesus told Pilate: “My reign is not of this present order. If my reign were of this present order, my supporters would have fought against my being turned over to the Jews. But my reign is not here” (John 18:36). Jesus brought no political message or program.

What is the Catholic Church? I think Gary may have a point, the quintessence of Jesus is not politics. However, I believe that there is a distinction between Christianity (organized religion) and Jesus. Can organized religion in today’s society be non-political?

In God’s Kingdom politics does not exist. God does not require a simple majority to keep Him in power. The Roman Catholic Church is a nicolaitian, man, made religion, in which truth of scriptures are replaced with church tradition. For Garry Wills to say he is proud to be a Roman Catholic, and he supports and encourages, the Rosery, is mind bogling, for it is obvious, he follows the teaching of men and not the commandments of Jesus Christ. The parable of the Sower, The Mustered Seed and the Unleven bread about God’s Kindom taught buy Jesus in Matthew chapter 13, clearly tell us how Satan will live in the church. Revelation Chapters 2 and 3 tell us how satan will control five of the seven Chruchs. Without question the Roman Catholic Church got its start in the Church of Pergamos, where Satan’s seat is, and where the Roman Catholic Church blossomed in its present form in the Church of Thyatira where the women Jezabel (Mariology) resides seducing God’s servants. He that has an ear let him hear! Garry Wills through good intentions finds a lot wrong with the Roman Catholic Church but he does not have the Holy Spirit working in his life to see the evil (Satan) that resides in the Catholic Church.

    Dear Robert,

It might help next time to actually read what Garry Wills has to say. In fact, it seems to me that you do need your mind boggled up a bit, to learn a little more Christian charity (especially towards other Christians and Christian institutions), to learn what counts as a legitimate argument.
